New Brunswick artist Fabiola Martinez.Fabiola is interested in natural resources and the preservation of ancestral techniques. In her latest series of abstract works, nature and culture meet. She has been incorporating the use of a natural dye, Cochineal - (Dactylopius coccus, derived from "carmine") - a pigment produced by a female insect that grows on a cactus in South America with fibers, natural objects and sand from both the Monument Valley in Arizona and New Brunswick, on pine, canvas and maple wood from Atlantic Canada.
