Confluent Dreams
Confluent Dreams is a multi disciplinary collection inviting audiences into the spirit of creative storytelling through painting, music, sculpture, and theatre installations. Confluent Dreams began one winter day, just before the pandemic when Oriol Dancer, Birgit Lessing, Holly Hildebrand, Sherron Burns and Nissa Shiell gathered to play and explore ideas investigating how one art form influences another, how artists interpret and respond to one another. It began with a long roll of paper to brainstorm and that original sheet, in time became a crankie theatre production drawn and painted collaboratively and performed to the group Raven She Hollers song Cold Snap, written by Nissa Shiell. This interactive and immersive collection was born out of a playful process of experimentation. It’s about stories, the ones we tell ourselves and each other, real or imagined, memories or myth. We are longtime members of the rural, northern creative community, women who infuse stories with feminine wisdom. Friendship built on shared interests in artful processes and conversations create a common thread in our diverse work and love of story.
