John worked for several years in the Audio Visual and Graphic Arts fields, while painting and producing selective prints of his work. His paintings have been exhibited at the Canadian National Exhibition: Art Gallery and Outdoor Exhibitions, Forest Hill LRC Gallery, Bremner Gallery, and on the Internet.

His 1970 'Transcontinental Pop Festival' (the Train) poster achieved international exposure. This musical event has been described as Canada's 'Woodstock' and the Train poster is now a part of Rock memorabilia.

John is currently producing humorous drawings for regional and national publications in Canada. These are signed under John's pen name "Jack Lown" and he hopes to soon make them available to Internet visitors to his web page, https://artistsincanada.com/John-Hayward-Lown
