Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Abstract, Floral
MY METHOD Much of my work begins with discarded pieces of wood or furniture. I am fascinated with objects which with time have been forgotten, the solid wooden boards which have already been used for so many different purposes. These pieces serve as the foundation for my oils, paints, and images. The gradual decline of faded color and surface deterioration are of great interest. Using pattern, paint, oil, and imagery, the discarded piece becomes new again. Paper, fabrics, and acrylics are the basic materials of my collages. I see many others which fit into each other, forming a unique scenario. With each cut or torn piece of paper or fabric, so many possibilities appear. Rather the ‘destruction’ or pieces of the image are transformed, along with other pieces into a new, completely different form. I like the mixture of printed images and textures which fit into each other until they take an entirely new identity. Transforming any image into something new is very inspiring- many of my works are based on renewal, hope, and belief.
