TRUCK Contemporary Art in partnership with the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts are pleased to present Meagan Musseau in collaboration with Curtis Running Rabbit-Lefthand.

Interrelation: Mohkinstsís is the third in a series of land-based endurance performances by Meagan Musseau, with prior iterations on Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain, Treaty 7 Territory (Banff, AB) and on Wolastoqiyik territory (Fredericton, NB). In the performance, Meagan braids vinyl flagging tape from a tree and continues until she reaches the end of the tape. An offering and a point of engagement with the land, water, and spirit of this region, the action unfolds as a means for the artist to access ancestral Mi’kmaq knowledges through making, and to connect, as a visitor to Treaty 7 Territory. For Interrelation: Mohkinstsís, Curtis Running Rabbit-Lefthand provides the heartbeat, grounding Meagan’s actions through song, where the Elbow river flows and meets many other great streams, and where stories of the Niitsitapi’s creation begins.

A note to attendees, this event will be filmed. Documentation and ephemera from Interrelation: Mohkinstsís will be included in Meagan’s forthcoming Main Space exhibition at TRUCK in winter 2020, alongside those iterations that have come before, and those afterwards.
