Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

My acrylic paintings, and mixed media collages (papiers collés) are an exploration of the spiritual essence of the outer and inner landscapes of existence. These works reflect the light and colour that characterize the places I have called home: the rainforest of the Congo, cypress trees and cloudless blue skies of the Mediterranean and the rolling hills, furrowed fields, blue ocean and wind sculpted contours of Atlantic Canada. My formative years were spent absorbing the rugged landscape of the Great Lakes. My paintings attempt to capture the sweeping movement of nature’s elements across land- and seascapes in such a way that the images extend far beyond the dimensions of my canvases.

I have been painting since my formative years. I have had numerous solo shows and have exhibited in both juried and other group shows in Prince Edward Island, Ontario, the United States and overseas. My work is in private collections in various countries around the world. While the landscape features most prominently in the work, it is a landscape of suggestion; a landscape of fiction and abstraction. I write about my work in my blog, Louise Mould Fine Art that features my paintings, mixed media collage, and drawings. Born in Exeter, Ontario, I hold degrees from the University of Prince Edward Island and McGill University in Montreal. I studied art for two years at the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières. I am currently living in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
