Edmonton, Alberta

Influenced by the masters, and contemporary artists, I strive to portray the beauty of nature in my oil paintings of flowers, landscapes, portraits and animals.  Visits to galleries in New York, London, Paris, Florence and Rome were inspirational.

I have loved to paint since the age of 10 when I was first introduced to watercolour.  I would attempt to capture the sunset as it descended into the horizon on the prairies of Saskatchewan.   I spent countless hours sketching horses, which are still one of my favourite subjects.  Then I put my artwork on hold, raised a family and built a career in the Information Technology Industry.  I began studying oil painting at Pros Art School under the instruction of Gene Prokop in 2001. Now I paint at home, teach a small painting class, and paint with a group of painterly friends.  I have completed several privately commissioned pieces of people, pets, cityscapes and landscapes.

In past years, I have shown my work at the Art Society of Strathcona County shows, Pro’s Art Gallery in Edmonton, Loft Gallery in Sherwood Park, Shurniak Gallery in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Scott’s Parable Bookstore in Red Deer, Gem Gallery in Sherwood Park, and at private shows in my home.   I was especially honoured to display a painting in the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists National Show in Calgary in 2008. My painting of the Great Green Macaws won first place in the Alberta Wide Show hosted by the Art Society of Strathcona County in 2015 and was also juried into the National Acrylic and Oil Painters Spring Online Show in 2016.

In June 2018, the public was invited to tour my home studio during the Art Society of Strathcona Hidden Treasures Open Studios Tour.
