Dancing Dolphins (2005)
This piece was created at CollaboratioNZ 2005, Whangarei, New Zealand. John Whelan (NZ) approached me to hammer a few shell forms to be included in this piece. It represents the unfortunate demise of dolphins getting caught in fishing nets and drowning. I didn't know how to make a shell using one of the basic fold-forms so I just cut the metal into a scallop shape and hammered the 'ribs' on a stump. They turned out quite nice and even looked like shells! Artists: John Whelan (NZ); Halley Clark (NZ); Andy Schmidt (Australia); Ted Hardy (NZ; Lindsay Embree (Canada).Photo: Ellie Smith
