There’s Nothing Like Nature: 4-Square Dress (2014)
The Four Square Dress is one of my favourite dress styles. Because the dress is not cut and sewn in the "usual way", the fabric is allowed to act like a vast "canvas" upon which the colour from the various leaves can have full expression. I prefer to use silk charmeuse because the sheen of the fabric enhances the details and colours given by the various leaves used to create the design. This piece was dyed using Liquidambar styraciflua (Sweet Gum); Quercus alba (White Oak); Quercus stellate (Post Oak)along with various other oak species in the area of Hickory, NC, USA.
