ZENTANGLE DRAWING CLASSES - Zentangle is an enchanting and simple method for creating beautiful images using structured patterns. It's easy to learn, fun, relaxing and is enjoyed by a wide range of skills and ages. You can learn more about it on the Zentangle website. (www.zentangle.com) I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher and I'm willing to travel. The Zentangle® art form was developed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas and is a registered trademark.

I love detail and patterns, sparkle and whimsy. International or universal imagery has always been of greater interest to me than local or regional subject matter.

In my artwork you will find:

MIXED MEDIA - I use colored ink, colored pencil, acryli, and various media. I sometimes incorporate collage, tiny gems and other elements.

LANDSCAPES and TREES - Houses, onion domes, castles, and occasionally pagodas, fishing huts, outhouses and tents. They are usually a bit wonky and fun, and sometimes architecturally impossible! Leafy trees, pine trees, baobabs, flowers, leaves and fields - also wonky and fun.

MANDALAS - Years ago I noticed that I occasionally chose a circular format for my artwork. I became interested in the mandala and decided to focus on it for a while. Circles and mandalas have been symbols - throughout history and across cultures - of eternity, wholeness, protection, unity, balance, transformation, interconnection, and things spiritual. Circles continue to appear in my artwork.

ZENTANGLE® - I discovered Zentangle in early 2009 and it immediately clicked: the intricate detail, structured patterns, and the graphic qualities of drawing that I love. A true Zentangle is black ink on 3.5'x3.5' white paper and is non-representational. I taken it further and do larger pieces, use color, other media, etc.. These extrapolations of the original form have come to be called Zentangle Inspired Art (or ZIA).
