Life Works of Master Printmaker Nik Semenoff

Chapel Gallery presents 'ALCHEMY', Life Works of Master Printmaker, Nik Semenoff.

There is a Printmaking Revolution upon us. By the close of the 20th Century Nik Semenoff was well on his way to changing how we will do printmaking for the 21st century. New processes he developed challenged the old art guard, as archaic and stogy as warm beer and direct transfer printing. What if you could do cleaner, safer printmaking, that was better quality, of freer form and line and less expensive – and you wouldn’t harm the environment in the process. No longer do we have to etch with acid, clean with abrasive solvents, nor flush hazardous chemicals down our drains to our waterways. The toxic aroma of the artist’s atelier, studio and screen print houses are the carcinogenic past we once had to endure when doing printmaking.

There are 2 distinctive lives of Nik Semenoff. The inventor and the Artist. One cannot discern the two, as they are intertwined and nurture each other. The genesis of idea formation is the essence of a life’s work by Master Printmaker, Nik Semenoff. Whether printing on paper, sketching, sculpture, jewelry making or painting on hardboard panels – it is quite apparent they belong to the same artist. The strength of the idea whether rational or intuitive is the synthesis of progressive idea development. Images respond to each other forming a visual strain of continuity between each body of work.
