Summer is here and the great weather is getting me excited about the painting and printing of textiles and paper, out of doors. I have been busy setting out my workspace in the yard and am looking forward to a productive few months.
I took some time to create some collages on stretched canvas over the winter - something I haven't done for a while, but still love - collage on any surface is the way I like to work and changing up the medium keeps me intrigued.
Cut Knife High School had their final performance in May, bringing all the artists and students that were involved in that Residency together. I enjoyed the experience so much and learned a great deal from the students and fellow artists. It was so wonderful to see how confident in their creativity the students had become.
The North Battleford Creative pARTnership continues and we have had regular open house dates at the studio. It is always intriguing to see the range of art that all participants are creating as Terry mentors us on various aspects of our careers.
I continue working on some new pieces in my various series works and have created 2 hand stitched textile works for 2 separate Fibre Art Network shows as well as several other local exhibitions. Having the opportunity to work on smaller pieces for exhibitions has proven to be a great stimulus and a great creative break from series work.
Like little art vacations!
