Creating and Maintaining Image Galleries

The images you load into our database can be grouped into galleries. Each gallery can have its own title and description. Each gallery will be displayed on its own page, and will automatically be added to your menu when your home page is displayed ( provided you have images in the gallery ).

Grouping your images into galleries is optional, but highly recommended. With a lowspeed internet connection, loading 50 thumbnails takes quite a bit of time. We recommend that you keep the number of images in a gallery under 18. If have a large collection of similar images, you might use the same titles with a number ( ie. Landscapes I and Landscapes II ).

When you load images, they are loaded into the gallery on your homepage automatically. This is ideal for displaying your newest work. As the images age, you could move them into galleries to make room for your new work. If you prefer, you can create galleries for all your work. (The gallery for your home page will be chosen alphabetically.) This has the advantage of adding a title and description to the gallery on your home page, but you have to move any new images you load into the gallery or they will be displayed on your home page instead of the gallery you've created.

To create a gallery, all you have to do is enter a title. The description is optional. After you have created the gallery, you add thumbnails to it by selecting them from the images you have already loaded. If the image is already included in a different gallery, it will be moved to the current one. If you delete a gallery, all images in that gallery will be move to the default gallery that is displayed under your artists statement on your homepage.

You can also select how many images to display horizontally on the page. If you turn off the left-side menu, you might want 5 images per row instead of the default of 3. If you have large thumbnails, you might want to have only 2 images across. To accomodate the visitors with low resolution monitors, you should keep the number of images on a row to 5 or less.

If you delete a gallery, all the images in the gallery are MOVED to the default gallery. To delete images, you must use the ARTWORK IMAGES AND INFORMATION link on the menu.
