Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, Acrylic, Pen & Ink

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

The landscape features most prominently in the body of my work. It is a landscape of suggestion, rather than a faithful figurative rendering; it is a landscape of fiction and abstraction.  It contains elements of the earth and sky, the sea and river. There is a fluidity in the landscapes creating essential harmonies that resonate in my mind and manifest in colour, design, and composition.

Major influences on my work have been the visual imprint of the Canadian landscape, the tropical forest of the Congo and the land of the Mediterranean/Middle East. The intensity of the light of these geographic areas particularly the latter two, have influenced the choices I make of both form and colour. Most recently, the predominating themes are those, once again, of northern lands.

The paintings and mixed-media pieces that form the body of my work reflect a state of being and a state of mind allowing reflection on the deeper aspects of the world around us.

I have had numerous solo shows and have exhibited in both juried and other group shows in Prince Edward Island, Ontario, the United States and overseas. My work is in private collections in various countries around the world.

I write about my work in my blog, Louise Mould Fine Art that features my paintings, mixed media collage, and drawings. Born in Exeter, Ontario, I hold degrees from the University of Prince Edward Island and McGill University in Montreal. I studied art for two years at the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières and am currently living in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
