Vanessa's journey into the world of art began with a wonder for the world around her, particularly the people who inhabit it. Her ability to express herself through drawing and painting was a call she heartily answered. This passion led her to Grant MacEwan University, where she earned a diploma in visual arts, followed by a pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Alberta. Vanessa further enriched her academic canvas with studies in secondary education, a choice that seamlessly melded with her love for art.
Upon completing her education, Vanessa embraced the role of a high school art teacher on a reservation south of the city, nurturing young minds to appreciate and create art. During the summers, she transitions from a mentor to an exhibitor, showcasing her artistic expressions at various art fairs. Now, nestled in the quiet town of Leduc, Vanessa has established a studio where she translates the large canvases of her imagination into tangible works of art.
Amidst the hues and strokes, Vanessa found a deeper resonance with the tranquility encapsulated in underwater scenes. The calm, the quiet, and the rhythmic meditation of swimming lanes morphed into a thematic muse for her artworks. The fantastical allure of the underwater realm, with its alternate reality of reflections and sensations, finds a vivid depiction in her paintings. Vanessa endeavors to share this serene yet strange world through her art, capturing the human essence amidst organic reflections rippling through the water.
Her artwork is not merely a visual delight but a journey she invites you on—to explore, to question, or to simply bask in the moment it offers. Moreover, Vanessa has intertwined her artistic venture with a noble cause. With a pledge to donate 5% of all sales to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), she extends an invitation to not only own a unique piece of artwork but also contribute towards promoting mental health and providing essential support services across Canada. Each artwork acquired is a step towards fostering mental well-being, a cause that echoes the soothing essence of Vanessa's underwater themes. Vanessa is thrilled for you to join her on this profound journey, extending a warm thank you for your support and companionship on a path that intertwines art, mindfulness, and communal well-being.
