6 AIC MEMBERS CHOSEN BY TWAC JURY TO SHOW

Posted: August 18, 2015

Top 2 winners to be chosen by the attending public

The results of the jury are in and 6 members of Artists in Canada have been chosen to be displayed in the Arts Building at the Toronto CNE. The chosen works were selected from 210 entries from an across Canada call for entry. Over the next few weeks (August 21 - September 7) the works will be on display and the general public will choose the 2 big winners. First prize is $1000 plus a 2 week show at the Artworld Fine Art Gallery, Toronto. The runner up will receive a $500 cash award. The third prize will be an Artists in Canada 1 Year Premium Membership. The winners will be revealed  on September 3rd.

"The showing of Art in this fashion harkens back to the late 1800's when notable artists, inventors and new technology companies of the day revealed their products to the public. It was a time to impress audiences with their fine inventions and art, and the CNE was the place to do it', says Paul Constable, Director of Artists in Canada. There are no bigger audiences than those of the exhibitions across Canada; with over 1.4million people anticipated to attend the Toronto CNE over 19 days. People can view discriminating art in a non intimidating atmosphere and judge for themselves what they like. The 525 square foot space also houses a children's art activity area. You are encouraged to come out, see the art and place your vote if you are in the GTA during the CNE. TWAC Volunteers, as well as AIC Member Volunteers, are in the show area to answer any questions.

"It will be interesting to see what people will choose as all the pieces are worthy, but the main thing is 15 artists will gain a lot of exposure as part of this art event. Art shows like this, place quality art squarely in front of audiences that may infrequently enter an art gallery," says Constable.

Good luck to all the artists and we encourage artists to enter again next year. See the TWAC website for further updates and details. The TWAC Juried Art Show is a joint effort by Toronto West Arts Collaborative, Artists in Canada and the CNE.
